Empty road through the Savannah near Burketown. This road is part of the Gulf Track, and can be used as an alternative for the route from Darwin to Cairns via the highway. The track is very, very remote though and the total distance is 2500 km, with 2000 km of badly corrugated dirt, crossing many Saltwater crocodile infested rivers!

Wedgetail Eagle with a small dead wallabie on the road near Burketown. Caution is required when approaching these large raptures, because they often stay with their pray until the very last moment. Taking off requires a huge amount of energy for these animals, and unfortunately many are killed by cars driving too fast.
